Profile
Its personality and complexity results from the climatic conditions, the selection of the best estate grapes and the creativity of our winemakers
Viticulture
Soils are granite dominated sands. Between elevation and river driven humidity, Dao’s wide diurnal temperature shifts (20o+) ensure both white and red wines are endowed ample natural acidity. Dao wines are renowned throughout Portugal for their ‘freshness.’ Average age of vines: 15 years.
Wine maker
Our natural approach to wine production allows us to enhance the terroir we are working with and get the maximum elegance and purity in our final product. We are working with relatively young vines between 10 and 15 years old, but the complexity is achieved because of all our natural elements combined: granitic soils, high thermal amplitude, altitude of our vineyards (+400m) and the grapes. All Portuguese, all from the Dão region, birthplace of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfocheiro and Jaen complete the list for the reds. Encruzado, Malvasia fina, Cerceal, Bical and Verdelho for the whites.
